If you missed it, I’m taking inspiration from Emma Guns (more like copying her completely because it’s such a brilliant idea) and tying to adopt 12 habits thoughout the year. One habit practiced daily for 30 consecutive days. If you want to read more about it, I’ve written an entire post explaining my reasons for trying this format. Now that’s out of the way, let’s dive in!
The first habit on my list is reading. The reason I chose reading is I really like the idea of it. Additionally, I’m chronically jealous of people who spend an afternoon indulging in the activity. Meanwhile, when it comes down to it, I always opt for something else.
The books I’m expecting to keep me hooked to this daily routine are the following: Raymond Queneau’s Zazie dans le métro, Quoi de neuf petit homme ? by Hans Fallada, Little Black Book: A Toolkit for Working Women by Otegha Uwagba and lastly Emma Gannon’s The Multi-Hyphon Method. In short, two novels and two “self-motivating” reads.
- Must read for 30 minutes everyday.
- The reading materiel must be a book: fiction or non-fiction
- Audiobooks don’t count, nor other Internet content
- The book can either be in French or English
There are a few outcomes I’m hoping for. Firstly, I want have something interesting to talk about which didn’t exclusively happen on the Internet.
Second, I surround myself with such beautiful and interesting books, it makes me sad I have no idea what they contain.
Thirdly, since my job also requires me to spend a crap tone of time in front of a screen so getting into the habit of looking at something else will undoubtedly do me good.
