Celebrate the little things. This post simply consists of a longish list of small things that have been lifting my spirits over the last little while. A kind and gentle reminder that despite everything unfolding around us, some remarkable things are still experienced on a daily basis, you need only to notice them.

- Giving yourself goosebumps when you sneeze.
- Feeling the warmth of the summer breeze on bare legs.
- Getting a call from someone the moment you were thinking of calling them.
- Eating a childish meal because you’re an adult.
- Walking in the middle of an empty street otherwise busting with traffic.
- Salted butter.

- Eating an ice cream cone without getting sticky fingers because you’re well-practiced.
- The sound of birds chirping in the afternoon sun.
- Watching neighbours do balcony workouts, sometimes joining in.
- Just looking at a crisp freshly ironed white shirt, no need to even put it on.
- Getting tears in the corners of your closed eyes from facing the sun.

- Having a conversation in your head and not having to apologise to yourself for interrupting your last thought.
- Fresh flowers.
- Flicking through a cookbook for the first time.
- Making faces in coffee froth.
- Spring cleaning your wardrobe and forgetting you had all those lovely clothes.

- Seeing a rabbit prancing in the grass on an evening stroll.
- Cats sunbathing.
- Cutting into a fresh loaf of sourdough bread to marvel at “the crumb”.
- Opening the freezer and seeing the ice cream you forgot you bought last week.
- The moment you gain consciousness after a long sleep but your eyes aren’t ready to open.

- The taste of garlic lingering in your mouth after having enjoyed some homemade pesto.
- Clean sheets.
- Appreciating being able to breathe out of both nostrils when you don’t have a cold.
- Scraping the sides of the half-empty Nutella jar with a tiny spatula.
- Unsolicited acts of neighbourly kindness.
